Natural Nutty Sweetness from the Old Western Ghats
Visiting and connecting with farmers across India to get native, natural, nutritional and seasonal farm made food for you is what keeps us inspired everyday.
But this time the place was special and the sweet treat was all the more special that our Founder Farmer, Satyajit Hange personally went to test and taste. A certified organic farm in Goa.
What do you think when you think of Goa?
While its geographical identity has been reduced to beaches, shacks, parties, nightlife and clubs, Goa’s culinary heritage has also been distilled to fish, fenie and cashews by and for us tourists. But like any other place, there is more to Goa than meets the eye. A culture, rich in its flora, fauna, people and food.
Have you ever been to the old Goa that still lives?
Riding through the black damber roads in the quaint villages of western ghats feels like a convoluted serpent overlooking a silhouette of lush green landscape. The gentle innocent breeze from the coconut and areca nut trees, picture-perfect paddy fields gleaming in the setting Sun and the slowness of the Susegad, laid-back and relaxed Goan life, is to absorb nice and slow.
As is the case of any seasonal, locally sustainable and timeless place, Goa makes amazing use of its rich biodiversity in its native food heritage. Fish, coconut, cashews and the spicy and tangy flavours of life come out oozing into the food folklore of Goa.
